Worship
Our worship style is a blend of both hymns and contemporary music each Sunday. We take great pride in our talented musicians at St. Mark's, and many of our community members frequently share that one of their favorite aspects of our service is the music. At St. Mark's, we follow a comforting liturgical pattern, with some standing and sitting as bodies allow, but rest assured, we make every effort to ensure that each element is explained clearly, so you'll feel completely at ease. It's a simple, engaging experience, and we provide guidance every step of the way.
Getting Here
St. Mark's is the large brown brick church on the northeast corner of Delany Rd. and Yorkhouse Rd. While being a Delany Rd address, the entrance to the parking lot is on Yorkhouse Rd. Some of the GPS apps like to take you on a scenic drive through the neighborhood to drop you out by the Yorkhouse entrance, but you can also turn toward the building from the Delany/Yorkhouse stoplight and find it easily. Either way works!
Please feel free to park in our lower main lot and enter the building through the fellowship hall entrance or drop off at our upper office entrance for a short walk to the sanctuary.
For those with limited mobility, there is a covered drop off at our main entrance and a wheelchair ramp from the drop off to the doors. From the parking lot, the covered entrance leads into our fellowship hall. Opposite that entrance, near the water fountain, is an elevator that can be taken to the main level where the sanctuary is located.

Dress Code
There's absolutely no need to worry about a dress code at St. Mark's. Our congregation typically dresses casually, just as you might when visiting a friend's house or attending a family dinner. Please come as you are, in the clothing that makes you feel most comfortable.
Children
Our vibrant and lively Sunday school begins at 10:10 am. Children start by checking in with Miss Jenny and then sitting with their parents for the start of the service. Later in the service, Pastor Colin will dismiss the kids, who will be walked downstairs to our dedicated youth and family wing off the fellowship hall. We have taken extra precautions to ensure the safety of our young ones, and parents can easily pick up their children after the service. Sunday school is held in the “youth wing,” which is entered from the fellowship hall on the lower level. A nursery/preschool is available on the lower level, entered from the stair well. www.stmarkslutheran.us/childrens-ministry.html
If you wish to keep your child with you during service, several options are available. Busy Bags with crayons, fidgets, small toys, etc. are available for all in the lobby. Also available are tables and chairs in the Narthex area, so parents can stay in tune with the service through the glass windows and dedicated sound, while any of our young friends make use of the room for movement. There is also a live broadcast of the service shown in our library directly behind the Narthex, if you seek a quieter space for a sleeping baby or an area to nurse.

Youth
Our Youth Group meets after Sunday Service at about 11 am in the youth room of our Youth and Family Wing of the church. Join us for snacks, games, and conversation with a pile of friendly, laidback kids from 6th-12th grades. Youth group ends around noon, and guardians are welcome to stick around for coffee and cake in our fellowship hall and connect with fellow families while they wait.
Communion
What is Communion?
At the heart of our faith is a beautiful tradition known as Communion. In this sacred meal, using simple elements of bread and wine, we remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples. We believe that in Communion, Jesus is truly present with us, not in a physical sense, but in a deeply spiritual way that transcends our understanding. This meal is a celebration of the sacrificial love of Christ, and through it, we are nourished spiritually and reminded of God's endless love. In our practice of Communion, we strive to embody the welcoming, inclusive love that Jesus taught us.

How We Celebrate Communion:
At St. Mark's, Communion is a communal, inclusive, and environmentally conscious practice:
- All Are Welcome: We invite all who wish to partake in Communion to come forward. It's a practice of open hospitality, reflecting our belief that God's grace is freely available to everyone.
- Row by Row Invitation: To ensure a smooth and reflective experience, ushers will guide you row by row to the Communion table. It’s a moment for quiet reflection and anticipation as you approach. You may stay seated if you wish to skip this element, no worries!
- Bread and Wine, with Options for All: You will receive a small wafer symbolizing the body of Christ. We also offer gluten-free options to ensure everyone can partake. Alongside this, wine and grape juice are available, representing the blood of Christ. This choice allows everyone, including those who prefer non-alcoholic options, to join in.
- Eco-Friendly Practice: Mindful of our responsibility to care for God's creation, the wine and grape juice are served in biodegradable cups. After receiving Communion, you can place these cups in designated baskets. We later compost them as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship.
Accessibility
At St. Mark's, inclusivity is a core value, and we are committed to creating a welcoming environment for all.
- Our facility is fully ADA compliant. Every entrance is wheelchair accessible, and we have an elevator that provides easy access to all floors. For those who may need mobility aids, we offer wheelchairs, rollators, and walkers that are available for your use.
- If you require hearing assistance, we have a Hearing Loop system installed. If you switch your hearing aid to the ‘T’ setting, you will be able to hear the service through your device. In addition, there are listening devices available for broadcast of the worship service; please ask an usher for one.
- We provide large print bulletins for individuals who may require vision accommodation.
- For the comfort of all our guests, we have a gender-neutral bathroom conveniently located in the library next to the sanctuary.
- Just outside our sanctuary, you'll find the narthex, a welcoming space equipped with tables and chairs. This area allows kids to play and be active while providing a quieter setting for our neurodivergent friends who may need a sensory break.
- Adjacent to the narthex is our library, which features a closed-loop television system. This allows you to stay connected with the service, making it a perfect spot for nursing moms.
- Comfort and Service Animals are welcome at St. Mark's, we ask only that you take whatever precautions are appropriate to protect yourself and your assistance animal.
