Good afternoon!
This is a reminder that on Saturday morning at 9:30 am, we will hold our next Creation Walk on the Western Loop Trail at the Greenbelt Forest Preserve. We will be returning to the Greenbelt Forest Preserve because it is predicted to be hot and sunny this Saturday, and this trail has more shade than most. It also seems to be a favorite among our walkers.
The Greenbelt spans both sides of Green Bay Road in North Chicago. The Greenbelt Cultural Center is on the east side of Green Bay Rd., but the trail we will be walking is on the west side of Green Bay Rd. The entrances are directly across the road from each other so, when you see the Cultural Center building on the east side, look across the street for the Forest Preserve entrance sign. Shortly after you turn into the Forest Preserve, the road splits - take the right fork. When you come to the stop sign, turn left, and the parking area will be at the end of the road. A map is attached.
We will gather in the parking area before beginning the walk. We will be walking a 1.3 mile trail loop. There is also a separate 0.5 mile loop that goes around Pulaski Lake that walkers will have the option to include as part of the walk. There are often geese around the edges of the lake. I have attached a second map that shows how the two trails meet. Please join us!
Our Creation Walks involve gathering each month at a forest preserve for prayer, fellowship, a trail walk through nature, and celebrating God's good creation. The aim is to reflect on the beauty and diversity of our natural world, and to give thanks that we are a part of His wonderful creation.
This month's walk will be 1.3 miles in length (about 1.7 including Pulaski Lake), and the trail is well-maintained but mostly dirt. Much of the trail is relatively level and easy to walk. Choose your footwear accordingly.
We ask that anyone planning to use an aerosol bug repellant spray it on prior to arriving at the trailhead to avoid allergic reactions in those sensitive to such chemicals.
See you Saturday!
Ken
