Dear St. Mark’s Family,
I hope this letter finds you well! As we approach a new year of ministry at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, we are reminded of the incredible ways God is at work in our congregation and community. Over the past few years, our congregation has grown significantly. We've expanded our ministries, built new relationships, and welcomed many new faces into the St. Mark’s family. This is truly a time of blessing and growth!
As we plan for the future, we aim to continue this positive trajectory. However, to sustain this growth, we need your help. Like many churches, St. Mark’s has experienced some financial challenges in recent years, especially as we’ve continued to invest in staff and ministry while navigating the impact of COVID-19. We've been able to cover some shortfalls through wise use of investments, but continued growth relies on the collective support of our congregation. We're asking everyone to prayerfully consider increasing their giving. This will allow us to maintain our momentum and ensure that we have the resources needed to support our ministries and staff.
So, this letter comes to you with a heartfelt request for your prayerful consideration as we prepare for Commitment Sunday, October 27th, 2024. We are inviting every person and family in our congregation to reflect on how God is calling them to support the mission of St. Mark’s through regular, faithful giving in the coming year. The math says that we can hit our budget goal if each family considers giving an additional 10 to 15% over their current giving. We know that this may be out of reach for some and not a stretch for others. This is a community effort, and like we say during offering, together our gifts can do what we alone couldn’t.
You might be wondering how to decide on your level of giving.
We believe that giving is a spiritual practice—one that deepens our trust in God's provision and aligns our hearts with His mission. We ask that you take time to pray and consider how God is leading you to contribute to the mission and ministry of St. Mark’s in 2024/25. Whether large or small, every gift makes a difference in furthering our shared mission.
We have enclosed a Commitment Card, which we invite you to fill out and return during our Commitment Sunday service or by mail. This card is an expression of your prayerful decision and allows us to plan responsibly for the coming year.
Thank you for being part of this vibrant, caring church family. We believe God is growing St. Mark’s to be a safe, approachable place for all people to learn of His love for them and work for good in our community. Together, we are reaching out to share God's love, and we eagerly anticipate the incredible ways He will work through us in the year ahead.
Blessings, Pastor Colin Cranmer
